Kenneth "Danny" Smith, age 71, of Dexter, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020.

Danny was a native of Laurens County and a graduate of Dublin High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving his country in Vietnam. Mr. Smith retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections after 22 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Baker Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, and fishing with his best friend, Tal Fountain. He loved to watch NASCAR and cheer on his favorite driver, Chase Elliott. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his fur baby, "Bandit".

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Ioma Weehunt Smith; sisters, Dorothy Ussery, Delaine Bedingfield, and Bernice Hodges, and brother, Tommy Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Darsey Smith, of Dexter; son, Chris Smith (Misty Duffy), of Oklahoma City, OK; brother, Roger Smith (Pat), of Rockledge; sister, Shirley Tomlinson, of North Carolina, and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Danny will be held at 11:00 AM, on Sunday, August 16, 2020, in Rentz City Cemetery. Rev. Joey Diers and Rev. Dwayne Bedingfield will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Glen Townsend, James Coleman, David Couey, Jeff Smith, Brian Smith, and Andy Sellers.
