David "Big Dave" Evans, age 71, of Rentz, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Evans was born in Laurens County on March 6, 1951, to the late Algerine and Fostine Warren Evans. He retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation and was a member of Baker Baptist Church. Big Dave was an avid dirt track racing fan and enjoyed small engine repair in his spare time. He loved his family and was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jason Evans.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Evans of Rentz; daughter, Wendy Evans (John) of Rentz; brothers, Billy Evans (Sondra) and Darrell Evans (Donna) both of Rentz; granddaughters, Kara Barnes (Cameron) of Cadwell, Kiley Dixon (Kaleb) of Rentz, and Abi Amram of Rentz; great-grandsons, Clayton Barnes and Canon Barnes both of Cadwell; step-children, Randy Johnson (Lynn) and Tony Johnson; grandchildren, Chassidy Evans, Austin Evans, and Dalton Evans; sisters-in-law, Karen Evans, Susie Coley (Danny) and Joan Evans (Ray); brothers-in-law, Ronnie Johnson (Marie), Lynn Johnson, and Larry Johnson (Fay) and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 15, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 16 ^th , in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Gay Family Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Handley and Rev. Richard Wyatt will officiate.

Cameron Barnes, Randy Johnson, Tony Johnson, Jamey Evans, Dusty Evans, and Heath Braswell will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Crosby and Danny Schell.
