David Wayne Norris, Sr., age 65, of Rockledge, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017.

Mr. Norris was born in Laurens County on January 19, 1952 and served in the United States Army Reserves. He was a deacon and member of Blue Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Norris was employed with Southeast Paper as a machine mechanic and an avid racing fan. He was a loving husband, father, son, and brother, and loved by everyone who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Hubert Norris.

Survivors include his wife, Tena Norris, of Rockledge; sons, David Wayne Norris, Jr. (Bette), and Paul Jeffrey Norris, both of Charleston, SC; step-son, Christopher Mullis, of Minter; mother, Mildred McTier Norris, of East Dublin; brother, Darrell Norris, of East Dublin; 2 step-grandchildren, and his beloved pet, Co-Co.

Services will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Blue Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Dr. Curtis Lysaker will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Robert Murry, Donny Murry, Shane Woods, William McTier, Joe Blackburn and Cody Hopkins. Paul Young and the Adult Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
