Deloris Carswell Cannon, age 80, passed Monday, April 15, 2013, at Shamrock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an extensive illness. She was also under the loving care of United Hospice. Services will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Jack Sapp will officiate. Burial will follow at Northview Cemetery. Mrs. Cannon was a Master Musician and music instructor for over fifty years. She was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, GA and Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA. Ms. Cannon was a member of Pinehill United Methodist Church where she served faithfully as church pianist for many years before becoming ill. She was also a member of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. W. D. Carswell, her husband, W. E. Cannon, Jr., her sister, Reba Harris of Jessup, GA, and most recently her brother, J.R. Wasdin, age 96 of Oliver, GA. She is survived by her daughter, Sherryl C. Owens(Gerald), Dublin, GA, a son, Walton Earl Cannon III, Dublin, GA, Two grandchildren, Brian K. Bazemore and Jessica Cannon as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cannon was dearly loved by her many piano, organ and voice students who she inspired through her teachings, love and dedication to music. Dennis Owens, Mark Owens, Ricky Owens, Harvey Padgett, Gene Harvey and Jonathan Harvey will serve as pallbearers. Townsend Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.
