Obituary

Dorothy Faircloth Holliday, age 97, moved to her heavenly home, Thursday, October 22, 2020, from her earthly home.

Mrs. Holliday was the daughter of Odis K. Faircloth and Cornelia Garnto Faircloth who along with her Husband A. B. Holiday and brother Osler Faircloth, preceded her in death.  Miss Dot saw many advances in her nearly 98 years. As a child, she flew in a bi-plane when a barnstormer came to town.  She also traveled by train, prop-planes, and jets. She was one of the "Belles" of Southern Bell, in Dublin, Macon, Atlanta, and Jacksonville, FL.  Miss Dot was a decades-long member of Neighborhood Chapel Church of God where she led singing and taught Sunday School.  Mis Dot won two first prizes for her coconut cake in the local cake bake-off.  She also made the world's best Biscuits. She retired from the City of Dublin Utilities Department in 1988.

Miss Dot's family is blessed and thankful for her in-home caretakers who were with her this year as her health began to fail. These members of her extended family are Mary Aleywine, Matilda Basley, Linda Brown, Margaret Pippin, Chaka Shine and Lillian Thigpen.

Her survivors include her children, Don (Vonnie) Holliday of Athens, Tom (Mary Ann) Holliday of Dublin, Jan (Larry) Byrd of Dublin, grandchildren, Donnie (Beth) Holliday of Athens, Regina (Raymond) Fitzpatrick of Lavonia, and great-grandchildren, Lexie Holliday, and  Kerrington Holliday and a sister in- law, Sylvia Faircloth Scott of Dublin.

The family will receive friends at Mrs. Holliday's residence Saturday from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 25, 2020, at Northview Cemetery.
