Services for Dorothy Irene Helton Taylor, age 86 of Dublin, will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, August 12, 2013 at Jefferson Street Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Darren Talley will officiate. She passed away on Friday, August 9, 2013. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Jefferson Street Baptist Church since 1966 and the Naomi Sunday School Class. She retired from Robins Air Force Base as a civil servant after 29 years of service. The focus of her life was her faith in Jesus Christ and her family. She encountered many health challenges during her life, but she carried on living by faith with love in her heart and a generous spirit. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Earl and Mattie Mae Howell Helton; brother, Buford Helton and a sister, Shirley Brack. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and R. Jeffery Cannon of Dublin; two grandsons, Camden Cannon of Athens and Ridge Cannon of Atlanta; two granddaughters, Candice and Rachel Cannon, both of Dublin; three brothers, Robert (Wanelle) Helton and Julian (Joan) Helton, both of Dublin and Morris (Edna) Helton of Nickelsville; sister-in-law, Evelyn Helton; several nieces and nephews and special sitters, Ruthie O'Neal, Sheronica Chatman, Janice Pittman, Cecelia Butts, Rikita O'Neal and Rose Fullwood. Pallbearers will be Camden Cannon, Ridge Cannon, Buster Helton, Frank Helton, Randy Brack, Jon Helton and Jason Halcombe. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Naomi Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:30PM until 8:30PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jefferson Street Baptist Church, 201 N. Jefferson St., Dublin, GA 31021.
