Obituary

Services for Dorothy Floyd McDonald Tomlinson, age 91, of Dublin will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, July 27, 2012 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 4:00PM in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, GA. Rev. Jim Fennell will officiate. Mrs. Tomlinson was a member of Jefferson Street Baptist Church. She was founder of SACO Club and a member of the Laurens County Home Demonstration Club. Although known for her sewing expertise, she loved her years in sales at Belk's in Dublin and Newnan. She will also be remembered for her fondness of daylilies, reading, crossword puzzles, Scrabble, and cheese straws. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her father, LM Floyd; mother, Fannie Miller Floyd; husbands, Theo McDonald, Jr. and Milo Tomlinson; son, Steve McDonald; daughter Mary Emily McDonald; four brothers, Raymond, Edwin, Harold and James and four sisters, Frances, Christine, Mary and Bessie. Mrs. Tomlinson passed away on July 24, 2012. In her later years, James Place was home where she was surrounded by a caring community of friends and staff. Mrs. Tomlinson also had a special place in her heart for friend Dee Walker, her caregiver for many years. She is survived by her children; Theo (Portia) McDonald, III of Sandersville; Suzanne McDonald (Jack) Heidler of Dublin; Kathy Tomlinson (Don) Beck of Dexter, Kenny (Nancy) Tomlinson of Dudley and Anthony (Samantha) Tomlinson of Dublin; grandchildren; Kevin (Melissa) McDonald of Tampa, FL, Matthew (Dina) McDonald of Macon, Steve (Kellie) McDonald of Atlanta, Rory (Kristin) Francisco of Richmond,VA, Tyler (Kalie) Beck of Oakton, VA, Brandy Tomlinson (Spence) Mullis of Dublin, Misty Tomlinson (Brian) Smith of Dexter and Miles Tomlinson and MacKenzie Tomlinson both of Dublin; great-grandchildren, Rachel Anne McDonald and Jacob McDonald both of Macon, Alexandra McDonald and Caden McDonald both of Tampa, FL, Beau Mullis and Nan Marie Mullis both of Dublin, Ava Smith and Boone Smith both of Dexter and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Richard Floyd, Donald Floyd, Carlton Floyd, Kenneth Evans, Marty Gentry and Brian Smith. The family will receive friends at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:30PM until 7:30PM.
