Dottie Kibler Smith, age 85 of Dublin, GA passed away on Wednesday, March 05, 2014. Mrs. Smith is survived by daughter, Wendy Smith Sims and her husband Michael of Dublin, GA; son, Steven Lane Smith and his wife, Janice of Dublin, GA; daughter, Sandy Smith Ballance of Dublin, GA; son, Kevin Clay Smith and his wife Lynn of Homer, GA; grandchildren, Jennifer Sammons, Steven Smith, Jr., Katie Ward, Samuel Smith, Laney Smith, Chris Ballance, Kevin Ballance, Jeffrey Ballance, Whitney Smith and Chad Edge; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill Kibler and Jim Kibler; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Ola Mae Stanley and Rosa Mae Stanley. She was pre-deceased by a son, Wendall Welbun Smith, Jr.; brother, Edgar "Buddy" Kibler and sister, Peggy Ely. Mrs. Smith was born on December 1, 1928 in Avondale, Georgia to the late Paul and Lorene Hewatt Kibler. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University Of Georgia Grady School Of Journalism. Dottie began her distinguished career as a co-founder of the Bellevue Pharmacy in 1951. Her success led to other ventures and eventually the creation of The Collection Antiques and Gifts in 1978, the first antique dealership of its kind and calibre in southern Georgia. She elevated her brand by stocking inventory from Europe and by cultivating relationships with other dealers all over the United States. Though she passionately loved her work, Dottie's greatest joy was her family. A loving matriarch, each family member's need was always put before her own; Dottie was a shining example to her loved ones of dignity, integrity, and unconditional love. Graveside services will be held privately on Friday, March 7, 2014. Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church or Serenity Hospice. Townsend Brothers Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
