Graveside services for Eddie Emerson Mackey, age 87, of Dublin, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Jack Sapp will officiate. Mr. Mackey was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and the owner and operator of Mackey Plumbing & Heating. He was a United States Army Veteran and served on the Dublin City Council from July 1978 through December 1979 and another term from January 1981 until January 1989. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Mackey and Maudie L. Wood, and by his wife, Christine Rebecca Baggett Mackey. Mr. Mackey passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center after an extended illness. He is survived by two daughters, Linda (Herman) Stewart of East Dublin and Brenda (Mike) Dacus of Dublin, two granddaughters; Teresa (Lamar) Mercer of Pooler, GA and Crystal (James) Williams of Dublin, two grandsons; Nicholas (Brandi) Dacus and Shawn Dacus both of Dublin, 8 great grandchildren, a brother, Talmadge Louie Mackey of Dublin, and a sister Marie (Charlie) Stephens of Dublin. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
