Edith Malcom Garnto, age 88 of Dublin, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015. Services will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, March 5, 2015 in the Chapel of Jefferson Street Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Northview Cemetery. Rev. Darren Talley will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Garnto was a member of Jefferson Street Baptist Church and retired from the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Thurman Garnto; parents, Ernest and Ida Malcom; sisters, Hilda Lord, Agnes Dooley and Christine Malcom; brothers, Robert Earl Malcolm, Sr., Ernest Malcom and Edwin "Pete" Malcom and great-grandson, Charlie Barrett. Survivors include her daughter, Annette (Rick) Chambers of Macon; granddaughters, Lindsay Chambers of Augusta and Laura (Scott) Barrett of Macon; great-granddaughter, Caroline Elizabeth Barrett of Macon; brother, Fred (Nancy) Malcolm of Centerville and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Garnto's nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family wishes to thank the staff of Emerald City Senior Living Center and James Place. They also want to say a special "thank you" to the staff and nurses of Monroe County Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Georgia Baptist Children's Home or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
