Obituary

Services for Edith Chambless Jansen, of Dublin, will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, March 3, 2013, at First Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. She passed away on Friday, March 01, 2013. Mrs. Jansen was a member of First United Methodist Church of Dublin where she was a Sunday school teacher and pianist for the Friendship Class. She was also involved in the UMW. Mrs. Jansen was a retired school teacher for many years in the Laurens County School System, where she helped design math curriculum for the district. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a Professional Honorary Society of Women Educators. Until her move to Benton House, she was a long time resident of Dudley where she was active in church and community affairs. Her family is grateful to the staff and residents at Benton House, Serenity Hospice and her faithful caregivers. Mrs. Jansen was preceded in death by her parents, Young G. Chambless and Nan Coleman Chambless, husband, John Gladstone Jansen, five brothers and three sisters. Survivors include her daughters, Jan Jansen (Dr. Carl) Bedingfield, of Dublin, GA and Jean Jansen (Richard) Lambert, of Devon, PA; granddaughters, Julia Bedingfield (Ryan) Reid of Canton, GA, Carla Bedingfield (Brandon) Ott of Grayson, GA, Jennifer Bedingfield (Adam) Bradley of Rentz, GA, Laura Anne Lambert (Tim Yue) of Riverton, NJ and Katherine Jean Lambert of Devon, PA; grandsons, Carl Osler Bedingfield , Jr. of Rentz, GA and John R. Lambert of Arlington, VA; seven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ettie Chambless of Rentz, GA and Polly Janson of Macon, GA. Pallbearers will be Marcy Chambless, Grady Chambless, Clift Crews, Paul Brown, Josh Crews and Ramsey Chambless. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Friendship Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 4:00PM until 6:00PM at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Carl Bedingfield, 113 Roberson St., Dublin. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Dublin.
