Obituary

Edward Milton Harpe went home to Jesus October 27, 2016. A celebration of his life will be held graveside at Northview Cemetery on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 2:00PM. Rev. Tyler Plaxico and Rev. Bob Williams will officiate.

Ed was born and reared in Dublin, GA, to the late Sally Perry and Muriel M. Harpe, and was married for 68 years to the late Marthelle Morris. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his brother, Perry, and two sisters, Annabelle H. Holt and Maggie H. Franklin, and grandson, George Heffernan.

As a lifelong resident of Dublin, GA, Ed graduated from Dublin High School, and attended Presbyterian College on a tennis scholarship. He lived a happy, successful life for 96 years, and was ready to meet his Lord. After retiring from the LP Gas business, Ed enjoyed farming, playing golf, and hunting with many special friends.

He is survived by four generations of loving family members who ALL loved and cared for him. Children, Elsie H. Waddy (John) and Gloria H, Brown (Bennie), both of Hilton Head, SC, and Edward Taylor Harpe (Shanna), of Dublin, GA; grandchildren, Edward Britain Heffernan (Jill), Robyn P. Soos (Gyula), Michael M. Price (Amber), Dana H. Blanchard (Tom), Edward Dalton Harpe; nine great-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
