Obituary

Eleanor K. Thomason of Dublin passed away on February 3, 2017 at the age of 90.She was born in Dublin, GA on August 5, 1926 and moved to Atlanta in 1952. Eleanor was a recipient of the Albert Gallatin Award presented by the U. S. Dept. of Treasury; she retired from the IRS Division after 27 years of service. Eleanor had also worked in the private industry as a bookkeeper for Southern Belland as a hostess at Escoe's Restaurant in Atlanta. In 1994 she moved back to Dublin and was a member of Springdale Baptist Church.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Thomason, Sr., and son, Edward L. Thomason, Jr.; parents Henry W. and Annie Davis Kersey of Dublin, GA, and siblings Malcolm Kersey, Majorie Kersey, and Iris Dixon. Mrs. Thomason is survived by two grandchildren, Brian David Thomason of Oakland, CA, and Traci Martine Thomason of Fayetteville, GA; daughter-in-law, Mary Lynn Thomason of Fayetteville, GA; sisters: Carolyn Bowen of Dexter; Susie Campbell and husband Dale of Dublin; brother: Ed (Bud) Kersey and wife Sylvia of Dublin; sister-in-law Linda T. Martin and husband Richard of Jacksonville FL; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 7, at 1 PM with the service scheduled for 2:00 PM at the chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will be at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Pastor Paul Wilkes will conduct the service.

Pallbearers will be; Tim Young, Wayne Starley, Daniel Knight, Neal Kersey, Phil Whittington, and Stephen Smith.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Susan G. Komen (www.komen.org) foundation in her memory.
