Obituary

Services for Elizabeth Gail Edgar age 72 of Dublin, will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Christ Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Louis O. Miller will officiate. Mrs. Edgar died Sunday, February 20, 2011. Mrs. Edgar was born in Madison Wisconsin, February 13, 1939, moving with her family to Florida at an early age. She was a graduate of Florida State University and was chapter president of Delta Delta Delta Sorority her senior year. Mrs. Edgar served as an LPN and was a homemaker. She has been a resident of Dublin for many years. She was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, the Episcopal Church Women and the Alter Guild. Mrs. Edgar was preceded in death by her mother, Jane Elizabeth Allen, her father, Perry Clegg Allen and a sister in law, Carol Edgar. She was much loved, and will be missed by her family and friends; she was a great cook and seamstress, reader, walker. She fought her disease with strength and dignity for five plus years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was totally devoted to her grandchildren. They were the light of her life. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, William O. Edgar of Dublin; daughter and son in law, Deborah L. and Charles H. Sullenger, III of Statesboro, daughter, Elizabeth E. Vinson of Fayetteville, grandchildren, Taylor C. Sullenger, Thomas H. Sullenger, Benjamin A. Vinson, Caroline E. Vinson, sister Judy (Tom) Birdwell, MD of Pensacola, FL, brother in law, James L. Edgar of Jacksonville, FL. Preston Johnson, Richard Jones, Wallace Miller, Bob Tilley, Dr. Bennie Fitts and Judge William L. Tribble will serve as pallbearers. Episcopal Church Women ECW will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church or your favorite charity. The family will receive friends at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home, Monday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Townsend Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
