Services for Emerson Eugene Myers, age 75 of Dexter, will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 28, 2013 at Antioch Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Rentz Cemetery. Rev. Larry Waldrep, Rev. Mike Peacock, and Dr. Larry N. Daniel will officiate. Mr. Myers died Friday, October 25, 2013. Mr. Myers was the son of the late William Etheridge Myers and the late Hattie Geneva Warren Myers. Mr. Myers, a graduate of Laurens High School, was retired from Progressive Rural Telephone Co-Op as Service Supervisor. He also worked many years farming. Mr. Myers was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Dexter. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his friends and family. After retirement he spent many hours visiting the sick and elderly in the community. Survivors include his wife, Fay Hodges Myers, of Dexter; children, Alan (Tina Mills) Myers, of Dexter, Lynn (Brett J.) Bowden, of Dublin; grandchildren Meagan (Cameron) Gay, Colby Myers (fiancé, Ashley Pitts), all of Dexter, Abby Bowden, and Catherine Bowden,of Dublin; sister, Sandra (Burney) Knight; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ronnie Dixon, Toby Alligood, Andy Smith, Ricky Wilkins, Marcell Barron, Travis Walker, and Nathaniel Nelson will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
