James Ernest "Ernie" Davis, age 74, of Rentz, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022.

Mr. Davis was born in Chester, Georgia, on December 13, 1947, to the late Clayton and Dorothy Davis. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in Vietnam and was also a member of the National Guard. Prior to his retirement, Ernie was a mechanic by trade. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, papa, brother, and uncle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Clayton Davis, Jr. and Hank Davis; and his sister, Brenda Floyd.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Davis; son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Kim Davis; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Danny Overstreet; granddaughter, Brentley Overstreet; sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Herbert Hall, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Bethesda Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Barron Powell and Rev. Jeremy Ikner will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the service hour at the church.

Pallbearers will be Mark Baker, Heath Braswell, Chad Burch, Jeff Davidson, Gordon Moore, and Brad Smith.
