Funeral services for Mrs. Eunice A. Kemp, 101 of Dexter, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, February 6th, at Dexter Baptist Church, with Rev. Calvin Halcomb and Rev. Larry Waldrep officiating. Burial will follow at the Dublin Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Kelso Gooden, Robert Hobbs, Jack Kemp Jr., Jody Kemp, Mark Kemp, and Matt Slaughter.
Mrs. Kemp was born on September 25, 1913 in Dexter to the late Josey and Dollie Alligood. She is preceded by her brothers and sister: Loomis Alligood, William Robert Alligood, James Alligood, Gordon Alligood, Milledge Alligood, L. C. Alligood and Grace Rabun. She was a homemaker and farmer most of her life. She had many friends and family who loved her dearly, and she was always doing for others. She was the best cook, with fried chicken, corn bread and corn being her specialty according to family and friends. She had the biggest heart filled with unconditional love for everyone she met.
She is preceded by her husband Elgerd "El" Quinn Kemp and her son Jimmy Kemp of Dexter. She is survived by her daughter Florence Kemp Leverett of Elberton, GA and son Jack Kemp of Fort Valley, GA. She has eight grandchildren: James Lee Kemp, Susan (Danny) Hattaway, Cheryl (Paul) Williams, Debbie Garing, Robert (Mary Dana) Leverett, Jack (Cindy) Kemp, Mark (Cynthia) Kemp, Jody (Jodi) Kemp, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home Thursday night from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
