Biography

Services for Eva Purvis Knight, age 79 of East Dublin, will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Bluewater Baptist Church. Rev. Curtis Warnock and Rev. James Covington will officiate. Burial will follow in Bluewater Cemetary. Mrs. Knight died Sunday, September 4, 2011. She was born in Alamo and was the daughter of the late Elbert Billy Purvis and the late Mattie White Purvis. She was of the Baptist Faith and was an active member of Bluewater Baptist Church. She was a retired homemaker and was retired from Mohawk Industries. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, O.J. Knight; her sons, Larry A. ("Bobby") Knight and Jimmy ("O.J.") Knight; her daughter, Linda Nelson; and her brothers, Ed Purvis, Clifford Purvis, Walter Purvis, Nelson Purvis, Ray Purvis, and Wade Purvis. Survivors include her; her sons, Kenneth Knight of East Dublin, Joseph E. (Darla) Knight of East Dublin; brothers and sisters, Fred (Mildred) Purvis, Geneva (Dupree) Hullet of Macon, Billy Purvis, Tommy (Frances) Purvis, Don (Mildred) Purvis, and Martha (Clinton) Stovall of Alamo; her grandsons, Daniel (Jodi) Knight, and Keith Knight; her granddaughters, Malinda Joiner, Jennifer Churchwell, Kristy (Eric) Shepard, and Melissa C. Wood; her eight great-grandchildren; and her special friend, Mavis McCullars. Daniel Knight, Keith Knight, Chris Reid, Larry Purvis, Aaron Ellis and Randy Purvis will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Pittman, Mickey Purvis, and Glen Knight. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Serenity Hospice. The family will receive friends at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
