Evelyn Hogan Livingston, 89, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at Northview Cemetery in Dublin, Georgia, with Rev. Jim Rush and Dr. Joel Dent officiating. Mrs. Livingston was born August 18, 1923, in Laurens County, Georgia, to John David Hogan and Mary Verna Moorman Hogan. She was the seventh of eight children, and the last surviving sibling. She had four brothers: John David ("J.D.") (Rebecca) Hogan, Jr., Lamar (Esther) Hogan, Addison (Theresa) Hogan, and Maurice (Virginia) Hogan; and three sisters: Mary Elizabeth Hogan, Reba Hogan (John) Lanier, and Lotus Hogan (Delma) Alligood. She graduated from Dudley High School in 1940 and went to work for Mr. George T. Morris as a bookkeeper for a number of his businesses, including a bus company, an oil company, and Morris Motor Company, a Ford dealership, where she met her future husband. In 1954, she helped Mr. Morris begin a new venture, The Morris Bank. She married Louie Livingston in 1953, and they began their business partnership with Dublin Auto Sales, a Lincoln-Mercury dealership, and later Livingston Olds-Cadillac-GMC-Nissan. They were devoted to each other and to their children and grandchildren. She stood by his side for 52 years until his death in 2005. She was an active member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church. She was best known for her cooking and never let anyone leave her home hungry. She is survived by her daughters, Claire (Greg Long) Livingston and Lisa Livingston, both of Dublin, GA; five grandchildren Havalyn Raeuber and Sarah Black, both of Atlanta, GA, Kathryn Black, of Dublin, GA, Rachel Black (Scott) Murray, of St. Augustine, FL, and Wesley (Kimberly) Black, of Augusta, GA; three great-grandchildren; a beloved niece, Karen (Macon) Core, of Dublin, GA, several other nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Virginia Hogan and Theresa Hogan, both of Dublin, GA; and loving caregivers Janie Watkins, Iris Rozier, and Mamie Lou Adams. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, September 4, 2012, at the funeral home. Donations in her memory may be sent to the charity of your choice or to Pine Forest United Methodist Church, 400 Woods Ave., Dublin, GA, 31021. Townsend Brothers Funeral Home has charge of funeral arrangements.
