Services for Evelyn Lavaarr Young, age 79, of Minter will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 12, 2011 at the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens, Rev. Jerry Martin will officiate. Mrs. Young was a lifelong resident of Laurens County and was the daughter of the late Ernest W. Ely and the late Pauline Senn Ely. She was retired from J. P. Stevens and was a member of Minter Baptist Church. Mrs. Young died Friday. Survivors include her husband, Daniel Preston Young of Minter, a daughter, Sara Young Lowery and husband Wayne of Orianna , niece, Alpha J. Watson of Macon, Granddaughter, Megan J. Lowery, brothers and sisters in law – John C. (Maggie) Young, Zilmon (Frances) Young, Fannie Mae (Gene) Stewart, Paul (Virginia) Young, Nell (Jake A.) Maddox, several nieces, nephews and cousins Carnage Young, Clark Senn, Sam Williams, John V. Thigpen, Miles Whipple, and Condell Carter will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home Saturday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
