Services for Gene Cooper, age 79, of Dublin, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at Rock Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Nolan McDaniel will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Cooper died Saturday, December 6, 2014. Mr. Cooper retired from Southern Battery and Duncan Tire Company after many years of service. He was currently employed with Evans Recycling. He attended Rock Springs Baptist Church and was a member of the Moose Lodge. Gene also enjoyed fishing and was an avid racing and sports enthusiast. Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his parents, Sydney Cooper and Lena Lyndsey, and half-brother, Lance Robertson. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Cooper, of Dublin; children, Denese (David)Wood, of Griffin, Ronnie Cooper, of East Dublin; grandchildren, Jennifer (Gavin) Breazeale, of Calera, AL, Joshua Cooper, and Caleb Cooper, both of East Dublin, Donovan Cooper, of VA; four great grandchildren; sister, Nell (Marvin) Lukes; sister-in-law, Glenese Sanders; step-sons, Greg Edge, and Jeff Edge, both of Dublin. Mr. Cooper's grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
