Graveside services for Gene Hilburn, age 91 of Dublin will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 13, 2012 at Northview Cemetery in Dublin. Burial will follow in Northview Cemetery. Dr. Cliff Morris will officiate. Mr. Hilburn was the son of the late Clyde Inman Hilburn and the late Ella Louise Flanders Hilburn. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Dublin. He attended Dublin High School and Clemson University. He served in the Pacific during World War II. Mr. Hilburn was the President of C.I. Hilburn Wholesale Grocery and was interested in civic and social activities around the city of Dublin. Mr. Hilburn is survived by his wife, Margaret C. Hilburn of Dublin, son, William R. Hilburn (Fonda) of Houston, TX, daughter, Florence Sapp (Raymond) of Marietta, GA, grandson, Jim Groover of Atlanta, GA, sister-in-law, Roberta C. Hopkins of Pittsboro, NC, several nieces and nephews, sitters, Sue Ellen Woodham, Ella Mae Mack, Lesa Davis, Maudie Russell, Leticia Moore, Janice Clover, and Dot Wiggins. The family will receive friends on Friday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
