Services for Edward E. "Gene" White, age 76 of Dublin, will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Ted Jarriel and Mr. Don Beck will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Lumber City, GA.
Mr. White was born December 22, 1936 in Lumber City, GA to the late Grady Edward White and the late Emma Estelle Hatten White. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and the retired owner of H&W Tire Co. Gene loved gardening and giving away his harvest to others, as well as spending time with his friends "telling lies." He was a devoted husband, loving father, papa and brother and he will be deeply missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle, Orris and Mattie Powell and a brother-in-law, Joe Hester. Mr. White passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family and beloved dog "Tootsie".
Survivors include his wife, Annette McGowan White of Dublin; son, Royce (Kim) White of Dublin; daughter, Sherri (Kevin) Sanders of Dublin; two brothers, Perry (Pat) White and Donnie (Libby) White, both of Lumber City; six sisters, Joyce (John) Dykes of Hazlehurst, Faye (Billy) Stapleton of Warner Robins, Barbara Hester of Hazlehurst, Linda (Dale) Swope of Hillsdale, MI, June Yawn of Lumber City and Patty (Ronnie) Pickren of Hazlehurst; grandchildren, Terra Shannon, Courtney White, Chase Shannon and Jay Wood all of Dublin; great-grandchild, Gracie Shannon and numerous neices and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Brazemore, Hugh Smith, James Hutcheson, Horace Sanders, Buddy Yawn, Martin Allen, Ricky Wynn and Keith Brooks.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Shephard, Hershel Veal, Burt Evans, David M. Smith, Danny Harden, Harold Rowland, Billy Thomas, Dick Daleski, Jeff Becker, Shirt Maddox, Jeffery Dominy, Jim Carlisle, Terry Perminter, Tommy Daniels, Bob Green, David Brack, John Albrecht and George Beasley.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
