Services for Gene Young age, 82 of Dublin, will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Bethsaida Baptist Church. Rev. Brad Ball will officiate. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. He passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014. Mr. Young was the son of the late W.B. Young and the late Mattie Lou Trotter Young. He was a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church, the Challengers Sunday School Class, and Masonic Laurens Lodge in Dublin. Mr. Young was also a Veteran of the United States Navy. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue Young; son, Paul Young; grandson, Chad Young; brothers, Ted Young and Quinton Young; and sisters, Annie Thaxton and Christine Mullis. Survivors include three sons, Al Young (Reita) of Dublin, Ed Young (Diane) of Dublin, and Timmy Young (Nancy) of Ivey; grandchildren, Kim Lancaster (Mike) of Dublin, Kelly Knight (Scott) of Dudley, Matt Young of Dublin, John Young (Heather) of Irwinton, and Will Young of Cordele; eight great- grandchildren; brother, G.W. Young of Jonesboro and sisters Lynette Wright (Wallace) of Dexter, Vonelle Morton of Dublin, Carolyn Sanders of Milledgeville and Elaine Mason (Allen) of Dublin. Greg Woodard, Cody Woodard, Mike Woodard, Tyler Woodard, Billy Young, and Christopher Young will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 from 1-2 at Bethsaida Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bethsaida Baptist Church.
