George Franklin Egas, age 79, of Dublin, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.

Mr. Egas was born on June 10, 1942, in Norfolk, Virginia, to the late Robert Egas and the late Lillie Marie Jaeger. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and he retired after 40 years of dedicated service with the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority. He was a former ballroom dance instructor and member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. He loved fishing but his greatest loves in life were his wife of 40 years and his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Woodrow Wilson Jaeger.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Libby Egas; son, Lonnie Gregory Smith (Kimberly) of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Lauryn Michelle Smith of Covington, and Lonnie Tyler Smith, and Gwendolyn Rose Smith both of Milledgeville; great-granddaughter, Lola Elizabeth Mendez; sisters, Cathy Marie Rudd of Odessa, TX and Margaret Ann Spencer of Columbia, NC; brother, Keith Wilson Jaeger of Suffolk, VA; brother-in-law, Craig Williams of Dublin, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and his furry friend, "Oreo".

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Tanner officiate. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
