George Andrew Grooms, age 73, of Alamo, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023, at his residence.
Mr. Grooms was born in Telfair County on July 18, 1949, to the late Cecil Levere Grooms and the late Evie Jean Mimbs Grooms. He was a retired Master Sgt. with the United States Air Force after proudly serving for 25 years. He was a member of Union Springs Baptist Church and was previously employed at Telfair Regional Hospital and the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie Hosey Grooms.
Survivors include his daughter, Deanna Grooms (Steve Brantley) of Alamo; son, David L. Kiser (Lisa) of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren: Brandon Bryant (Shaye Sweeney), Kaitlyn Renee Bryant, Levi and Alexa Kiser, and Austin Kiser (Sandra); great-grandchildren, Noah Kiser, Nataleigh Kiser, and Raelynn Elizabeth Bryant; sisters, Sandra Sims (Joseph) and Lynn Stanford; brother, Wayne Grooms (Yovonne), and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, July 10, 2023, at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 11th, at Union Springs Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Dewayne Dunn and Rev. Ronnie Powell will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Scott Stewart, Brandon Bryant, Zack Stewart, Paul Wheeler, Austin Kiser, and Ronnie McKee.
