Funeral services for Glayton Wesley Dean, age 72 of Dublin, will be held in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 14, at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow in Graham Memorial Church of the Nazarene Cemetery. Rev. Ken Brogden and Ken Wright will officiate. Mr. Dean passed away on December 11, 2010 at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center. Mr. Dean was a member of Poplar Springs North Baptist Church. He retired after 30 years of service in law enforcement with the Dublin Police Department, Laurens County Sheriff Department and the East Dublin Police Department. He started the Santa Claus for both Dublin and East Dublin putting a smile on the faces of many children throughout Laurens County. Mr. Dean was also a founding member of the Silver Spur Riding Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Omer Dean and Willie Mae Oneal Dean, four brothers; Dewell H. Dean, Hurbert R. Dean, Marvin Dean and Wilber (Tot) Dean, as well as a son, Christopher Edward Tanner. He is survived by his wife, Donna Tanner Dean; son, Richie (Amanda) Dean of Dublin; two daughters, Robin Dean and Heather (Ashley) Williams, both of Dublin; two sisters, Bernice Perry of Tifton and Willa Mae Griffin of Alabama; sister-in-law, Betty Dean of Springfield, GA; 8 grandchildren, Austin Dixon, Cassie Dixon, Justin Dixon, Jordan Dean, Brittany Dean, Blake Williams, Zach Williams and Harley Williams; best friend of 50 years, Clark Moore of Dublin, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be Jordon Dean, Austin Dixon, Justin Dixon, Larry Dean, Elton Dean and Charles Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers will be Clark Moore and Law Enforcement Officers of Laurens County. The family will receive friends at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home on Monday night from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family may also be contacted at 1637 Hwy 80 East in East Dublin.
