Obituary

Glenn Larry Bracewell, age 74, of East Dublin, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016. Services will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 3:00PM at Brewton Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Brewton Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Thigpen, Rev. Allen Wiggins and Rev. Kelly Maddox will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2:00PM until funeral hour at the church. Pallbearers will be Kendrick Bracewell, Benjamin Bracewell, Lendon Bracewell, Venson Bracewell, Brennan Bracewell, andt Ronald Hardy Bracewell. Honorary pallbearers will be Van Moorman, Floyd Holmes and Bill Rowe. Mr. Bracewell graduated from East Laurens High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving for seven years as an electrician. After military service, he attended Brewton Parker College and Middle Georgia College earning an Associate of Science degree. He furthered his education by attending Valdosta State College, earning his BS degree; and by attending Georgia Southern College where he earned his Masters of Education degree. He was employed as a teacher in both East and West Laurens schools until his retirement. He retired to enjoy fishing, woodworking and the delightful company of his grandchildren. He grew up and lived his life in the Brewton Community and was a member of Brewton Baptist Church. He and his wife were married for 48 years. Mr. Bracewell was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Lee and Mattie Wilma Melton Bracewell; two grandchildren, Andrew Lee and Anne Laree Jenkins. Survivors include his wife, Joanne Gaillard Bracewell of East Dublin; daughters, Catherine (Donna) Bracewell of Winterville and Glenda Bracewell Jenkins of Dublin; son, David Glenn (Melonie) Bracewell of Dublin; sisters, Lynette (Joe) Grubbs of East Dublin and Melody (Manuel) Jimenez of Vidalia; brother, Ronald E. (Judy) Bracewell of East Dublin; grandchildren, Victoria (Joshua) Jump, Kendrick Bracewell, Benjamin Bracewell, Lendon Bracewell, Venson Bracewell, Aleah Bracewell, Brennan Bracewell, Bethany Bracewell and Elizabeth Jenkins, all of Dublin and Maxwell Bracewell of Winterville; great-granddaughter, Zoey Ann Jump of Dublin; 27 nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Gene Gaillard of Dexter and Emory Gaillard of East Dublin and sisters-in-law, Martha Gaillard of Dexter and Dianne Johnson of Dublin.
