Biography Grace Garrett Gilder, age 95, of Dublin, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2017. Services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Union Springs Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until funeral hour at the church. Rev. Dewayne Dunn will officiate. Grace was one of twelve children born in Laurens County to Wilson Garrett and Sally Daniels. She attended the old Pine Forest School in Cadwell. She was a homemaker/farmers wife and worked many years at a local manufacturing plant as a seamstress. She also worked at the Wheeler County Senior Center, retiring at age 75 as the Director. Mrs. Gilder was the oldest living member of Union Springs Baptist Church, serving in numerous roles over the past 50 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former spouse and father of her children, Roger J. Ussery, and husband of 30 years, Harley R. Gilder. Also preceding her in death were siblings, Billy Garrett, Osler Garrett, Foster Garrett, Sydney Garrett, Beulah G. Ogletree, Jonjhlyn G. Henderson, Dorothy G. Vann, Evelyn G. Smith and son, Tim Ussery. She is survived by siblings, Dan Garrett, of Milton, FL, Darrell Garrett, of Byron, and Pearl G. Foster, of Thomaston; children, Betty U. Newsome (Randy), of Dudley, Roger J. Ussery, Jr. (Myrtice), of Dublin, and Ricky W. Ussery (Marsha), of Dublin; grandchildren, Robbie Newsome, of Beverly Hills, FL, Ritchie Newsome, of Corpus Christie, TX, Rhonda Williams, of Rockmart, and Melody Yoder, Ali Ussery and Will Ussery, all of Dublin; five great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, special cousin, Jeff Graham, as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews.
