Graveside services for Gwen D. Newton, age 84, of Dublin, will be held 2:00 PM Thursday January 14, 2016 at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. L. T. Logue will officiate.

Mrs. Newton was born in Laurens County to the late David Dixon and the late Gladys Horne Dixon. Also preceding her in death were her husband; E. M. Newton, son Carl Hall, sister; Jane Logue, brothers; Hal Dixon, and Kyle Henry Dixon, granddaughter; Amy Wilkes McCullars, and her loving dog FiFi.

She served as Hostess in several restaurants in Dublin, retiring from Shoney's. Gwen was a great cook and seamstress, a loving and caring mother. She enjoyed making crafts and beautiful Christmas ornaments, and loved flowers. She loved fishing, and collecting birdhouses. She enjoyed shopping with her good friend; Mrs. Katherine Platt. Mrs. Newton was of the Baptist faith. She passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016. The family would like to thank Fairview Park Hospital and Serenity Hospice for the excellent care Gwen received.

Survivors include her son, William Parks Hall, daughter, Joyce (Alfred) McCullars, granddaughter; Audra Dawn (Ken) Graham, great granddaughter; Karlee Dawn Graham all of Dublin brother, Doyle (Faye) Dixon of Dudley, two sisters in law, Patsy Dixon of Dudley and Marion Dixon of East Dublin, several nieces and nephews.
