Obituary

Gwendolyn M. Lynn, 92, of Dublin, Georgia passed away on Sunday, December 21st, 2014 at Serenity Place Hospice in Dublin. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 on Tuesday, December 23rd at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home in Dublin. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be immediately following the service at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Lynn, the former Gwendolyn Ruth McEachern, was the daughter of the late Duncan Elisha and Augusta Newsome McEachern of Dublin, Georgia. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Julius A. Lynn; a great-grandson John Hudson Christy; a brother, Duncan Elisha McEachern, Jr., and a sister-in-law, Jacqueline Fuller McEachern. Mrs. Lynn was a graduate of Brantley County High School Class of 1941. She retired from J.P. Stevens of Dublin in 1982 after over 30 years of service. Mrs. Lynn and her late husband, Julius, were charter members of Pine Forest United Methodist Church in Dublin where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the John Laurens Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution in Dublin. She is survived by her daughter and beloved son-in-law, Marsha Lynn and John Douglas Christy of Perry; twin grand-sons, Scott Duncan Christy (Elizabeth) of Greensboro, North Carolina and Sean Douglas Christy of Atlanta; and two great-granddaughters, Anna Cait Christy and Caroline Grace Christy of Greensboro, North Carolina. She is also survived by a brother, John Owen McEachern of Waycross, a sister-in-law, Grace Ellington McEachern of Dublin, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lynn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was the light of her life, especially her twin grandsons and their families. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Mrs. Lynn to the Methodist Home for Children and Youth, 304 Pierce Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31204; Pine Forest United Methodist Church, 400 Woods Avenue, Dublin, GA 31021; or Serenity Place Hospice, 504 Parker Dairy Road, Dublin, GA 31021. The family would like to thank the loving staff at Serenity Place Hospice and Benton House of Dublin for the wonderful care Mrs. Lynn received during the last five years of her life.
