Obituary

Harry Kirk Hogan passed away from natural causes at his home. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. U. G. B. Hogan of Dexter, GA and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kirksey Rushton of Millen, GA. Also, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Harry (Daisy) Hogan of Dudley, GA, and a brother-in-law, Jon David Henderson of Cleveland, GA. He is survived by his sister, Kathy Hogan Henderson of Cleveland, GA. He is also survived by numerous cousins as follows: David (Judy) Crews, Clift (Karen) Crews, Ernestine Crews, Danny (Lesia) Hogan, Kay Hogan Dominy, Carol Hogan Edenfield, George Hogan, Jayne Hogan Williams, Joan (Doug) Hogan Smith, Dr. Charlene Rushton Black, Robert Rushton, W. Barclay (Miriam) and much more extended family. Harry Kirk was a 1974 Summa Cum Laude graduate of West Laurens High School, where he was active in the Beta Club, Debate Club and the band, in which he played the trombone. He was also one of the biggest fans of all things West Laurens Raiders! Kirk continued his education, where he pursued a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Chemistry, graduating in 1977 with Summa Cum Laude honors from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro! In his professional life, he was employed by Oconee Regional Medical Center in Milledgeville as a Respiratory Therapy Technician for the past 33+ years where he worked with many devoted co-workers that he enjoyed sharing life experiences and thoughts on any and all things in their lives. Kirk felt the tug of our Lord and Savior at an early age, where he accepted Jesus as his Savior at the Dudley United Methodist Church. Kirk had a voracious love of reading and with almost a photographic memory. He began reading the World Book Encyclopedia at the age 7, beginning with the A not stopping until he completed the Z book. He was fascinated by all things historical, both American, European and most importantly, all things military – most especially American military history. Kirk also enjoyed attending the Trinity Crusaders sports events and any and all festivals in the middle Georgia area. Final arrangements are being handled by Townsend Brothers Funeral Home in Dublin, GA. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until time for the service at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at the Dudley United Methodist in Dudley, GA. Reverend Rus Black will perform the service. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens.
