Obituary

Mrs. Ila Alligood Baggett Miller of Rentz, also known affectionately as "Big Ila", died Friday morning May 9, 2014 at Twelve Oaks assisted living home after an extended illness. She was a lifelong resident of the Rentz community, as well as a lifetime and active member of Baker Baptist Church. Mrs. Ila was preceded in death by husbands Louis Baggett and Marvin Miller. She is survived by four children, Larry Baggett (Meave) of Kathleen, Jerry Baggett (Ann) of Dublin, Dianne Brooks (Rodney) of Glenwood, Karen Crews (Clift) of Dudley, a special niece Lisa Baggett of Rentz, grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her faithful caregivers included Katherine Rozier, Lou Knowles, Patricia Beckman, Ruby Knight and the staff of Twelve Oaks assisted living. She was a wonderful homemaker who loved to quilt, sew, garden, and cook her homemade chocolate cakes, cheese toast, biscuits and milk gravy, dumplings, famous sweet syrupy tea and many other specialties. Mrs. Ila was a God-fearing, loving woman who had a gift for making everyone feel a part of her family and welcome in her home on Baggett Hill. She was well known for her kindness, warmth, humor and was dearly loved by all who knew her. Visitation will be held at Baker Baptist Church Saturday, May 10 at 1:30 pm and service immediately following at 3:00 pm with Reverend Joey Diers, Reverend Jeff Handley, and Reverend Charles Alligood officiating. Burial will follow at Rentz Cemetery. Pallbearers are Robbie Baggett, Ashley Baggett, Tyler Mimbs, Joddie Edge, Larry Curl, Wayne Nelson, Daniel Spivey, Justin Crews and Josh Crews. Memorial contributions may be made to Baker Baptist Church or Gideon's International.
