Obituary

Services for Jacqueline "Jackie" W. Powell, age 68 of East Dublin, will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Tommy Pulliam and Rev. Mike Wynn will officiate. She passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Jackie Powell was born October 16, 1945 to the late Eula McCrackin Wood and Troy Lee Wood. Mrs. Powell was raised in Dexter, GA and grew up attending Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She attended Dexter School where she graduated in 1963. On June 29, 1963 she married her soul mate of 51 years. She was a housewife and mother of four. She obtained her cosmetology license and was a dedicated Beautician for over 40 years. She was also once the proud owner of Jackie's Beauty Nook. Mrs. Powell was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She always loved to cook and spend time with her family. She was a lover of all animals and always lived her life for Jesus Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Houston Wood; great-granddaughter, Alexis Rayleigh Johnson and daughter-in-law, Kathy Horton Powell. Survivors include her husband, Robert E. Powell of East Dublin; children, Tony Powell, Chris Powell, Dawn O'Neal (Donnie) and Eric Powell, all of East Dublin; grandchildren, Torie Johnson, Robert A. Powell, Jr. (Kristy), Wayne Reed, Carissa Laidlaw (Matt), Trey Powell, Lee Powell, Cole O'Neal, Jordan Powell, Austin Powell, Chan O'Neal, Ericka Powell and Ansley Powell, all of East Dublin; great-grandchildren, Allie Grace Johnson and Baylee Reed, both of East Dublin and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family members, and friends. Pallbearers will be Robert A. Powell Jr., Wayne Reed, Trey Powell, Lee Powell, Cole O'Neal. Jordan Powell, Austin Powell and Chan O'Neal. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
