Services for James E. Hampton, age 87, of Dublin, will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Poplar Springs North Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Robert Rogers, Rev. Lock Wilford, and Rev. Rusty Stewart will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Hampton died Saturday, May 24, 2014. Mr. Hampton established Hampton Construction in 1978 and continued active involvement as owner and operator, including operating heavy equipment as recently as April 2014. He is a member of Poplar Springs North Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. Mr. Hampton is a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army Occupation of Japan. He received the World War II Victory Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal Japan, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, and one Overseas Service Bar. Mr. Hampton is preceded in death by his wife, Ann Radney Hampton, parents, Marvin Hampton, and Mamie Lord Hampton, and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his sons, James G. "Jim" (Kimberly) Hampton, of Cadwell, Butch (Ronda) Hampton, of Dublin, Randy (Melissa) Hampton, of Montrose; grandchildren, April (Damien) Fields, Jamison (Jenilee) Hampton, Jennifer (Christian) Castorri, Haley (Jamie) Allen, Adrianne (Cody) Hilbun, Gant Hampton, Caleb Hampton, Segan Hampton; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special niece, Sharon (Patrick) Neville. James G. Hampton, Butch Hampton, Randy Hampton, Jamie Hampton, Caleb Hampton, Gant Hampton will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Thomas, Derick Thomas, Brian Thomas, Brian Keith, Jimmy Thomas, Ronald Daniel, Kenny Daniel, Murray McDonald, Chris Crawford, Al Radney, Ed Radney, members of the Joy Sunday School Class and Deacons of Poplar Springs North Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Poplar Springs North Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 289 GA Hwy 338, Dublin, GA 31021.
