James Fred Mixon, age 66, of Dublin, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Brewton Baptist Church with visitation to be held one hour prior to the service. Rev. Clayton J. Mixon will officiate. Mr. Mixon served in the United States Army Reserves and was in the restaurant business for over 40 years. He was of the Baptist faith and an avid golfer. He loved watching ESPN and the Georgia Bulldogs. His persona was bigger than life, and he will be deeply missed by all. Mr. Mixon was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Howard Mixon and Mary Alice Winburn Mixon and a brother, David Mixon. He is survived by his sons, Michael Layne Mixon of Dublin, Lance Mixon of Metter and Sean Lacey Mixon Stamper of Toledo, OH; daughter, Courtney Mixon Carrothers of Virginia Beach, VA; 15 grandchildren; Jo Brandon of East Dublin; brother, Rev. Clayton J. Mixon of Kennesaw; sisters, June Hall of East Dublin and Lois Simpson of Dublin; several nieces and nephews and Man's Best Friends, his DAWG, Miss Jawga.
