Obituary

James Marion Warren of Dublin, Georgia passed away on Monday, October 10, 2016 at the age of 88. Born in Macon, Georgia on April 1, 1928, he was the fourth child of the late Rupert Douglas and Beatrice Dominy Warren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his siblings, Leman Warren of Manchester, GA, Leon Warren of North Port Charlotte, FL, and Madelyn Warren of Sarasota, FL.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sandy Warren and his children, Ken Isaacs (Carolyn) of Boone, North Carolina, Lynnie Russo (Jerry) of Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Susan Thornton (Steve) of Dublin, and James M. Warren, Jr. (Debbie) of Summerville, South Carolina, as well as a host of grandsons, nieces, and nephews.

Jim served his country during the era of the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he attended Toccoa Falls College, School of Professional Studies where he studied business administration. He began his professional career working as a stenographer for IBM. Later, his love of the artistry of woodworking and the challenge of carpentry captured his attention; thus, he worked as a self-employed general contractor for more than 30 years until he was forced to retire due to poor health. He enjoyed his work and was considered by many to be an extraordinary master carpenter with the ability to design and create all things from furniture to homes. Jim enjoyed watching Braves baseball, engaging in Biblical scholarship, and reading and discussing current events. Even though his poor health prohibited him from physically attending church, he was a long-time member of Jefferson Street Baptist Church.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, October 13, 2016 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home with Dr. Joel Dent officiating. Pallbearers are Eric Cannada, Matt Gibbs, Randy Kittrell, Jody Pollock, Bill Smith, and Jason Thomas. Honorary pallbearers are the Cadet Honor Guard of the Dublin High School Air Force JROTC. Burial with military honors will follow at 2:30PM at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, GA. The family will receive friends at Townsend Brother's Funeral Home one hour prior to the funeral service.
