James R. Whittington, age 84, of Dublin, passed away on, Sunday, February 12, 2017. Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Northview Cemetery. Rev. Robert Rogers will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11:00AM until funeral hour on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Daniel Knight, Stephen Smith, Cole Whittington, Jacob Whittington, Darron Rowe and Reid Evans. Mr. Whittington was a member of Poplar Springs North Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Bessie Mae Reaves Whittington. Survivors include his wife, Connie Ward Whittington, of Dublin; daughters, Sonya Faith Sterling (Shawn), and Angela Kay Ward, both of Dublin; sons, Phil Whittington (Melba), of Dexter, Stan Whittington (Rob), of Orlando, FL, and Mitchell Whittington, of Los Angeles, CA; sisters, Shirley Ussery, of Milan, and Myrtle Butler, of Warner Robins; 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
