James Joel Young, age 84, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

Mr. Young was born September 25, 1938 to the late James Edward Young and late Melissa Pearl Bush. Mr. Young was a Laurens County resident and served in the United States Army from 1952 – 1963. He loved country music, drag racing, and heavy equipment.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Young is preceded in death by his brother, Steve B. Young.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen Young of East Dublin; son, Derrick (Jackie) Young of Rockledge; daughter, Kim Young (Ben) Gay of Rockledge; granddaughter, Krisi (Dave) Moyer of Rockledge; grandson, Hawk Young of Brooklyn, NY; great grandsons, Colten Moyer and Cash Moyer of Rockledge; sister, Goldia Harden of Atlanta; sister-in-law, June Young of East Dublin; several nieces and nephews and Papa's kitty, Kane.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 2:00pm at the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Tommy Veal and Rev. Salem will officiate.  Visitation will start one hour prior to the memorial service.
