Obituary

Jamie Lamar Keene, passed away on August 30, 2026, in Merritt Island, Florida, at the age of 45, after a long illness.

Jamie was born on October 22, 1980, in Dublin, Georgia. He graduated from Dublin High School and attended South Georgia College.  Jamie started playing soccer in middle school and continued to play throughout his high school years.  He was voted Best Defensive Player in his senior year.  He went on to play soccer at South Georgia College before he decided to join the military.

Jamie was a veteran of The United States Marine Corp, serving 3 deployments during his enlistment including The Global War on Terrorism and Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Upon returning home after his 4-year enlistment, he worked as an Aviation Electrician at Warner Robins Air Force Base.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lamar Keene. Jamie is survived by his mother, Donna Shirley and her husband Allen of Rentz; his daughter, Hannah Keene of Dublin; his sister, Hope Dominy and her husband Bill of Rentz; his brother, Wade Shirley and his wife Julie of Eufaula, Alabama; his sister, Karen Harding and her husband Scott of Olathe, Kansas; and several loving aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 4, 2026, in the Mary Whitaker Townsend Memorial Chapel at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Norristown. Mr. Frankie Mathis and Rev. Robert Marina will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the service hour on Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Dan Hopkins, Thomas Rowland, Cole Rowland, Chris Hopkins, Mac Rowland, and Tyler Rowland.

In lieu of flowers, his family has requested memorial contributions to be made to Widow's Oil Ministry, via their website, or by mail, 1011 Stonewall Street Dublin, GA 31021, to support Veterans Crisis Services.
