Services for Janet Daniel Hobbs, age 84, of Dexter, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Dexter Baptist Church. Rev. Calvin Halcomb will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Mrs. Hobbs was the daughter of the late Wesley G. and Hattie Chambers Daniel, and the loving wife of the late James N. Hobbs. She was born and raised in the Cadwell Community and attended Cadwell High School. Mrs. Hobbs retired from the Laurens County Board of Education and lived most of her life in Dexter. She was a member of Dexter Baptist Church and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. Mrs. Hobbs was known as the First Lady of Possum Hollow. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hobbs was predeceased by her sisters, Oreta Daniel (Malcolm) Sanders and Shirley Daniel Bedingfield. Survivors include her children, Don R. (Anne) Hobbs, Sr., of Dexter, Joette Hobbs (Ira) Warnock, of Loganville, Steve Hobbs, of Dexter; brothers, Randall ( Ellen "Tiny") Daniel, of Macon, and Bennie (Regina) Daniel, of Rentz; brother in law, Clayton Bedingfield; grandchildren, Don R. (Kim) Hobbs, Jr., Keith (Dawn) Warnock, Lori Hobbs (mike) Cherry, Kristi Hobbs (Frank) Escamilla, and Cory Hobbs; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Don Hobbs, Jr., Keith Warnock, Cory Hobbs, Mike Cherry, Frank Escamilla, and Tommy Braswell will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gideons International; P. O. Box 27; Dublin, GA 31040.
