Services for Jerrell C. Brown, age 80 of Glenwood will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, September 6, 2013 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Nolan McDaniel and Rev. Jimmy Napier will officiate. The family will also receive friends on Friday morning from 9:00AM until funeral hour at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Brown went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 after a brief illness.
Born in Laurens County to the late Henry Solomon and Agnes B. Brown, Mr. Brown was a United States Army Veteran serving our country during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1987 from the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center after 33 years of service as a supply specialist. Mr. Brown was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed retirement and helping people. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Bobby Brown; sisters, Myrtle Maddox, Dorothy Johnson and Florrie Moses.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty Coleman Brown of Glenwood; sons, Steve (Gail) Brown of Dexter and Jeff (Lynne) Brown of Dublin; grandchildren, Pritchie Brown and Stevie Rae Brown, both of Dexter; step-grandchildren, Ethan Dennis of Eastman, Dakota Dennis and Peyton Dennis both of Dublin; brother, Carson Brown of Dublin; sister, Betty (Wayne) Coleman of Glenwood and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mike Carter, DeWitt Moses, Ken Hughes, Mike Falco, Billy Mathis and Brian Mathis.
