Services for Jessie James Carter, Jr., age 78 of East Dublin, will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Pleasant Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Kelly Maddox and Rev. Matt Anderson will officiate. He passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2014. Mr. Carter was born in Swainsboro, GA to the late Jessie James Carter, Sr. and the late Mary Lizzie Flanders Carter. He was a member of Pleasant Springs Baptist Church and worked as an electrical engineer with Fairview Park Hospital. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Lucille Moore, Mattie Mae Sammons, Juanita Grant, Ruby Moore and Isabel McTier and five brothers, Mervin Carter, S.M. Carter, Monroe Carter, Francis Carter and Buck Carter. Survivors include his son, Greg (Renee) Carter of East Dublin; brother, Bobby V. (Betty) Carter of East Dublin; granddaughters, Jamie Carter and Chelsea Carter; grandson, Caleb Carter and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Melvin Veal, Dean Veal, Kyle Odom, Jerry McTier, Ricky Carter and Michael Carter. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
