Services for Joe H. Smith, Jr. age 84 of Dublin, GA will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 9, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Dublin. Dr. Cliff Morris will officiate. Burial will be in Barnesville, GA at the Greenwood Cemetery Monday at 2:00 PM. Mr. Smith was born in Macon. He was the son of the late Joe H. Smith, Sr. and the late Rebecca Rogers Smith. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Smith was formerly of Barnesville, GA where he was a member and served as Deacon of First Baptist Church. He moved to Dublin in 1976 and has been a Member and Deacon at First Baptist Church, Dublin, and has been active in the Real Estate and Appraisal Business. He was active with the Dublin Board of Realtors where he served as President in 1979. Mr. Smith died Thursday, September 6, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jeanelle Lamb Smith of Dublin, his sons Joseph Bradley Smith and wife Jo Ellen Cannon Smith, of Rex, and Mark Rogers Smith and wife Cecelia Hand Smith of McDonough, grandchildren, Joel Hunt Smith, Kaylin Leeanna Smith, Lauren Blake Smith, sister, Rebecca Smith Graham, nephews, Zollie Smith Graham and James Owen Graham. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Vitas Hospice, 931 Rock Quarry Road, Stockbridge, GA 30281 or to First Baptist Church, 405 Bellevue Road, Dublin, GA 31021 or the charity of your choice. The family will receive friends at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home, Saturday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
