Funeral services for Commander Joe Randall Moring, United States Navy (Ret.) will be held at First Baptist Church, Dublin, Georgia on Thursday May 5, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. Internment will be held at 4:00 P.M. at the City Cemetery at Swainsboro, Georgia in the Moring Family burial plot. A native of Swainsboro, Emanuel County, Georgia, Commander Moring had lived in Dublin since 1982. He was the son of the late George William Moring. Sr., and the late Laney Coxwell Moring. He was preceded in death by his wife Louise Hahn Parks Moring, his wife Georgia Mae Childers Coleman Moring, a daughter Nancy Moring Caton, a grandson Andrew Joel, Cetovich, four sisters, Vera Moring Rathburn, Rubye Moring Peebles, Georgia Moring Harper, Trotter and Fannie Moring, three brothers. George William Moring, Jr., John Moring, and James Edward Moring. Survivors include, a daughter, Patricia Ann (Mike) Johnson of Lewiston, Idaho, four step-daughters, June Coleman (Milo) Smith of Dublin, Georgia, Ann Coleman (James) Whitlock of Roswell, Georgia, Nora Coleman Tatum of Griffin, Georgia, and Rosemary Coleman (John) Knox of Marietta, Georgia. Seven Grandsons, five granddaughters, fifteen great-grand children, three Great-Great-Grandchildren, several nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces, and great-great nephews and nieces. Commander Moring enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 1926 and served continuously until retirement in 1956. He was a veteran of the Second Nicaraguan Campaign, the Yangtze (China) Campaign, and World War II, and the Korean War serving in the American Defense Theater, the Atlantic-European-African Middle Eastern Theater, and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Theater, and included five Battle Stars. After retirement from the Navy, Commander Moring worked with Chrysler Corporation Missile Division, engaged in the U.S. Army and Air Force Redstone and Jupiter Ballistic Missile programs and with Chrysler Corporation Aerospace Division, Florida Operations, in the NASA, Apollo, Saturn 1 B. Space Program. After retirement from Chrysler, he resided in Merritt Island, Florida for several years and after the death of his first wife, Louise Hahn Parks, moved to Dublin and married June, Ann, Nora and Rosemary's mother, Mrs. A.G. Coleman, in 1982. Commander Moring was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dublin, Georgia, and there a member of the Senior Adult Sunday school class. He was a Christian by Grace, a Baptist by tradition, and theological belief and a Southern Baptist by choice, in the firm conviction that the Southern Baptist Cooperative Program was inspired by God and is initiated, is an excellent vehicle for the institutional church to carry out the humanitarian and evangelistic commandments of the Holy Scriptures. He was ordained a Baptist Deacon at and by the First Baptist Church, Cocoa Florida in 1963, and experienced the joy of deacon service until several years ago when personal and family health considerations dictated his request to be placed on the inactive deacon roll. His seven grandsons will serve as his pall bearers. They are, David Smith, Coleman Tatum, Alex Tatum. Lucian Tatum, John Knox, James B. Whitlock, Jr., and Todd Johnson.
