John Parks Daniels, Jr., age 86 of Dublin, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2015.
Services will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Northview Cemetery. Rev. Sam Collins will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 7, 2015 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
Georgia State Patrol, Post #20 will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bubba Lord, Dewayne Jeffers, Billy Thomas, Dan Childers, Roscoe Childers, James Howard, Jim Rowland, Pete Cliatt, Porter Wood, John Chappell, and Yates Ware, as well as all former Georgia State Patrol, Post #20 co-workers.
Mr. Daniels was born and raised in Dexter, GA. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and retired from the Georgia State Patrol. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors and making cane syrup. He was devoted to his family and friends. Mr. Daniels was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Nellie Daniels and brother, Robert M. Daniels.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Hitson Daniels of Dublin; son, John Parks Daniels, III (Sally) of Dublin; daughters, Mary Sue Brown and Carol Everly (Bobby) both of Dublin; grandchildren, Barry Parks Brown, Brooke Carr (Blake), Parker Everly, Payton Everly, Marina Daniels and Grant Daniels, all of Dublin; great-granddaughter, Maclairah Carr of Dublin; sister, Rhetta McCorkle (Bill) and caregivers, Linda Reynolds and Sandra Chapman.
