Services for John K. Herndon, age 88 of Cadwell, will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 16, 2012 at Bluewater Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Gene Hemmingway will officiate. Mr. Herndon was a lifelong resident of Laurens County. He retired from Bassett Furniture Company. He was the son of the late John B. and Liller White Herndon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Black and Nina Mae Evans and three brothers, Jimmy Herndon, Herman Herndon and Herbert Herndon. Mr. Herndon passed away on March 12, 2012. He is survived by his daughter, Becky Haynes (Greg) Walker of Cadwell; granddaughter, Brandy (Wesley) Hobbs of Rentz; three grandsons, John (Tabitha) Haynes and Jimmy Haynes, both of Cadwell and Jeremy (Jen) Haynes of Columbus; two great-granddaughters, Mickala Brady of Rentz and Raigan Haynes of Montrose; two great-grandsons, Lucas Haynes of Cadwell and Brantley Haynes of Columbus; brother, James (Audie) Herndon of Columbus and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Chad Herndon, Michael Coleman, Josh Bedingfield, Jerry Herndon, Jr., Alan Warren and Chris Herndon. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. They may also be contacted at, 2435 Reedy Springs Church Road in Cadwell.
