Johnny Robert Hudson, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on September 3, 2011. He was a faithful husband for 56 years to Mona Gloria Wilkes Hudson. He was a loving father to his four children: Johnny Robert Hudson, Jr., Michael Keenan Hudson, Amanda Felicia Averett, and Earnest Richard Hudson. He is preceded in death by his parents Paul Hudson, Sr. and Effie Blanch Flanders Hudson, his brother Charles Hudson, and two brother-in-laws, Jack Tondee and Charles Martin. He is survived by his wife Mona, children (Robert and Colette Hudson of Stapleton, AL; Michael and Pat Hudson of Palatka, FL; Felicia and Ed Averett of Mobile, AL; Rick and Yvonne Chin Soo Hudson of Seattle, WA), grandchildren, great grandchild, two brothers, two sisters, several nieces and nephews, and other family members. He loved the Lord, His Saviour Jesus Christ, and it was evident in the life he lived, the words he preached, and the legacy and good name he left his children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. His favorite book was God's precious word, the Bible. He was the founding pastor of First Independent Methodist church in Dublin, GA. He faithfully served the Lord in the ministry in which he pastored four Independent Methodist churches over the span of 40 years. His viewing will be Tuesday, September 6, from 6 – 8 PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral home in Dublin, GA. His funeral will be at 10 AM at the First Independent Methodist church on Claxton Dairy road in Dublin, GA. Dr. Phil Tondee will be officiating. The graveside will be at Mount Zion Cemetery in Rockledge, GA.
