Joyce M.
Burney
Jun 9, 1944 — Sep 5, 2026
Joyce M. Burney passed away on September 5, 2026, in Vidalia, Georgia, at the age of 82.
Born on June 9, 1944, in Dublin, Georgia, Joyce lived a life marked by kindness, devotion, and steady grace. She preceded in death by her parents, the late B.A. Moore and May Bell Alligood Evans, and a sister, Joan Goza.
Joyce spent many years serving others through her work at Emmitt Black Dentistry, where she was a trusted and familiar presence as a dental hygienist. Her care for patients reflected the same warmth and attentiveness she showed in every part of her life. She took pride in her work and in the relationships she built over the years, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism, compassion, and respect. She was also a retired auctioneer, a role that reflected her energy, confidence, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
A woman of faith, Joyce was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, where she found fellowship and spiritual comfort. Her faith was an important part of her life and guided the way she treated others. She was known for her kind heart, her thoughtful nature, and her willingness to help when help was needed. Her presence brought comfort to those around her, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Robyn Burney of Dexter; her brother, Edward Moore and his wife Moniece of Eastman; and her sister, Linda Bracewell of Cadwell. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory and the love she shared with them over the years.
Among the many relationships Joyce treasured, one held a particularly special place in her heart. She had one nephew, Tyler Bracewell, whom she considered her grandchild. Tyler and his wife, Erin, along with their sons, Jax and Jace, brought great joy to her life, and she loved them deeply. The bond she shared with them was a reflection of the close and loving nature that defined her family life.
