Joyce Baker Couey, age 92, of Dublin, passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Couey was born on April 15, 1929, to the late Cleon Vickers Baker and the late Winnifred Kirkland Baker Pope. She worked many years as a registered nurse at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center. She was also a retired educator teaching in the East Laurens School system from 1970 until 1994. Mrs. Couey was also a member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church and she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth A. Couey, and brothers, Richard Baker and Robert Baker.

Survivors include her children, Kenneth A. Couey, Jr. (Carolyn), of Omaha, NE, Cleon Couey (Robin), of Dublin, Richard Couey (Michelle), of Huntington Beach, CA, Elizabeth Johnson, of Dublin, and Kevin Couey, of Adrian; grandchildren, Kenneth A. Couey III, Danielle Dettra, Leslie Folds, Jeremy Couey, Bridgett Graham, Shannon Andreasen, Zachary Couey, Ryan Couey; 7 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home

Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 12 ^th , in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home with burial to follow at Northview Cemetery. Rev. Daniel Folds and Rev. Alvin Lewis and will officiate.
